The Mission

Our mission is two-fold: to advance research in our field and to translate it to create impact on real-world problems. From initial concept to execution, we are dedicated to every step, including literature review, lab work, modeling and implementation strategies. We will collaborate with researchers, companies and other stakeholders. During the TU/e contest, we will encourage innovation and knowledge exchange. At the end, we will travel to Paris and present our project at the iGEM Competition, where over 400 student teams present their solution. This may just be the start if we launch our project as a true startup.

The Challenge

Despite years of extensive research and billions of euros invested, cancer persists as one of the most difficult diseases to treat. It is a reality that nearly everyone acquainted with someone impacted by cancer understands: current treatments often come with unpleasant side effects and do not consistently yield desired outcomes. There is need for an innovative treatment that can precisely target the tumor, without affecting healthy cells for improved therapeutic outcomes.

The Solution

Our solution presents a shift away from traditional chemotherapy or radiation treatments. We will develop an immunomodulatory vaccine, by which we aim to activate the body's own immune system to precisely target and eliminate cancer cells, while minimizing harm to healthy tissues. Our innovative platform is designed to be modular, enabling flexibility and adaptability to address various types of cancer. This way, we will try to create a personalized vaccine for improved outcomes and enhanced quality of life for patients.
